48) Mirror Mirror on the Wall
She stood in front of the mirror,
Her reflection stared back at her,
It looked the same yet different,
Like some unfamiliar demanour.
Age was just about similar,
Eyes still black and honest,
Smile was as before charming,
Cheeks just a pinch away from
turning pink.
But the eyes had a lost, forlorn
look,
Smile showed obligation rather than
joy,
Like the heart and mind was trying
to curb,
A carnival of emotions inside.
There was a time when little things
made her happy,
When laughter erupted with the
tiniest trigger,
When fear and troubles were easily
banished,
And life's ship seemed to have a
steady radar.
Surrounded then she was by her loved
ones,
Their warmth and love like a
protective blanket,
Valued and secure she was,
With people around to take care.
She was learning to be happy with
herself again,
After all she now was the radar of
her own ship,
She missed the loved ones steadying
her,
But more than them, her own self she
missed.
