69) A Women's Day Rant

 Women’s day, they say, why so much fuss?

Flowers, chocolates, gifts – no one does so much for us!

They can vote, they can fight, they can live, they can work,

What purpose would celebrating her for one day really serve?

And I would agree, for sure, what does one day achieve?

When her struggle every other day no one really sees,

When her safety, her well-being is limited to a newspaper head,

And all the arguments and concerns are met with “Not All Men!”

Talk to a woman and she will tell you, the thoughts in her mind,

How every simple activity can turn into a well thought crime,

How fear governs her choices, her futures & her work,

Getting basic independence, respect & equality feels like good luck.

So next time you feel that she need not complain,

That pampering her for one day is too much of pain,

Then do her a favour and keep those prying eyes away,

Let her liver her life on her own terms, every single day.

Because trust me, this attention, this celebration is not what we need,

All we ask for is freedom, respect and a truly equal identity!

2) Betrayal

Forever together, unaware of their fate, Happy they were and in blissful ignorance, But true to their natures they were destined to separate, And instead of friendship, betrayal was to take place. The shock of this betrayal shook her soul, That unexpected treachery struck her blind, All that was left for her was to flop down and howl, And hope that her beloved friend would respond in kind. But that was a hope that went in vain, Because she was made to be left alone, Friendless she was now and was left to endure the pain, With the grief of her lonely life to be quietly borne. Cursing about why she should lose her only friend, And why betrayal was to be written in her fate, All the happy times had come to an end, And she became as lonely as she could get. 6) That Little Bird

A little bird on my window sill, chirping its sweet song, So pretty was it that my eyes followed him along, As it hopped and twittered around, I couldn’t take my eyes off him, And when he sang a melody aloud my heart was filled with happiness to the brim.   He was a brown, chubby, tiny little thing, with a sharp, long beak, And he looked at me with his beady black eyes as if willing me to speak, And speak I did, quite involuntarily though, the words just came from my mouth, “Oh!
